It’s May and the asset of the month is Youth Programs. When you spend three or more hours a week practicing with your sports team, or participating in a club, after school activity, or church group, it can add to your sense of purpose and belonging. An important aspect of any group is interaction with peers and coaches. The Peninsula has many opportunities to give new programs a try, from a sport you might be interested in to summer camps, internships, or a club with a focus on hiking, robotics, or some other interest you’d like to pursue. What’s important is that you have a genuine interest, and that the teacher, guide or coach is someone who will have a positive influence and may help you develop aspects of yourself. For some ideas on how to develop this asset for yourself, or help someone else, go to Youth Programs Toolkit.
